Description of YMCA Camp WEWA: Established in 1942, the Central Florida YMCA is one of the largest nonprofit community organizations in Central Florida. With its 23 Family Centers in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Brevard and Marion counties, the Central Florida YMCA impacts the lives of more than 200,000 kids, teens, adults and seniors each year.Since 1948, Camp Wewa has been building lives in Central Florida. The traditions of Wewa have been shared by thousands of alumni, including many of Central Florida's community leaders. During the summer, Camp Wewa is a residential camp for youth ages 7 to 15. The campers spend time learning new skills and improving existing ones. They also learn to live with others their own age and work as a team. The focus of cabin life is to develop friendships, learn responsibility and respect, and provide opportunities for personal growth. There are also lots of fun activities and games in the evenings. Wewa also offers the L.I.T. (Leaders-In-Training) and the C.I.T. (Counselor-In-Training) programs for youth ages 15-16.
