The rooms are nothing more than closets. Bathrooms are communal and down the hallway. Lots of drug and prostitution activity. Very arrogant onwer from Jamaica. The only bright spot is that it is located in the heart of downtown Lake Worth, which has alot of charm that most other Florida towns have lost to condominiums and upscale restaurants.
I inspected the hotel for future travellers and found the staff to be friendly and the rooms to be pleasantly furnished and accodating. The hotel is historic which gives it a special flavor of uniqueness. The hotel is located in the heart of Lake Worth - within immediate walking distance to shops, restaurants and parks. The beach is about a one mile walk.
This hidden gem is worth visiting if you are looking for budget accomodation in West Palm Beach region! Recently purchased and being lovingly restored by Winston, my room was a double with a new unbelievably comfortable bed, private bath, TV that worked, crisp linens and thick, fluffy new towels. This is not a cookie cutter hotel - it is being restored in the tradition of the era in which it was built - 1920s! Kitsch galore, lovely vintage furniture, small and simple rooms, artwork and old world charm. Also available, singles with shared bathrooms for true budget travellers! Availablity of the kitchen to cook and share life stories and food with Winston and his wonderful mother made this a home I will return to and will not hesitate to recommend to others. If you are looking for bright and shiny - this is not it. If you are looking for warm and personal, you have found it!
As a mother of two young children, I expect the hotels I stay in to maintain certain standards. The Hummingbird Hotel exceeded my expectations on all levels. The rooms were beautifully decorated and kept impeccably clean. The staff was more than accommodating. The location of the Hummingbird Hotel is excellent, as well. It is located in the heart of downtown Lake Worth. We were walking distance from the beach and parks, as well as an amazing assortment of shops and restaurants. We were all thrilled with our stay! I can't wait to return in a few months. This will definitely be the place I bring my family for future visits to Lake Worth, FL.
